Enjoying our seventh year of marriage!

Okay, I'm back to post about last weekend, before this one is upon us...

Friday night - We went out with Karmen and Tim for dinner and a movie. We saw Miracle which I thought was great. It's just such a great story!!

Saturday - Got up *way* too early after a late night to head down to Mad Island for a volunteer work day. We thought about skipping it since we've been so busy lately, but it was going to be the first time Dad and Brigid met Amanda, so we decided to go along with them for moral support. (Not that they really needed it!)

It was a pretty laid back work day, since the Preserve manager couldn't be there and they were short on materials to do some of the bigger projects, so we just did a bunch of minor chores like picking up trash along the canal, hauling some (HEAVY) bags of concrete that a local hardware store donated, etc. After the work was done, we ate dinner and played Pictionary and went to bed early. Good day!

We headed back to Austin relatively early on Sunday and didn't do anything exciting (or productive!) the rest of the day.

In other news...

Richie's been working all week on burning our wedding video to DVD!! A professional videographer wasn't high on our priority list for our wedding, so we just hired two friends-of-friends to tape the day for us. So we had about 7 hours of raw footage of our wedding day on mini-DV tapes - kind of a pain to watch!

So he's ripping all the video off of the tapes, organizing it by adding menus and stuff and burning it to DVD! It's a very rough edit at this point - we have two views of most of the major events - but it's SOOO much better than what we had before. He was going to do it as a surprise for me for Valentine's Day, but it took a lot longer than he thought it would and I discovered it rendering on our computer. Isn't he a sweetie?

Anyone who thinks they'll want a copy for themselves, let us know. Or else you can wait for the "final" edited version, but you might be waiting a while! It's taken us nearly two years to get this far!

I also made some headway into a project I've been wanting to do for a while... start a ladies' Book/Reading Club!! We had our first (planning) meeting last night and I think it went really well. I'm so excited about it! I hope we'll be able to read and discuss lots of different books and I'll get to know some local women better. :)

Okay, I think that's it for now. TGIF and I hope you all have wonderful weekends!

Hello and Happy Monday!

I'm a couple of weekends behind in here, so in an effort to get caught up, here's what we did weekend before last (Valentine's weekend):

We didn't do much Friday night - lounged around the house a bit, made a Target run, grabbed a bite to eat and then got stuff together for Richie's volleyball tournament on Saturday.

Saturday morning we woke up to a couple of inches of snow *on the ground*!! It was so pretty!

One of our neighbors had even made a 4-foot tall snowman - although who knows when they did it because it was already up at 6:30 am when we were leaving for College Station! The roads seemed to be fine though, and other than having to slow down on the icy overpasses, our trip to CS was uneventful. The boys didn't play well though - they were missing their setter and one of their middle blockers. They went 2-6 on the day and didn't make the playoffs, so it was an early day.

We got back to Austin right around sundown. We had expected to be in College Station until late and so we didn't have any plans. We ended up just ordering pizza and hanging out at the house, which was nice.

Sunday was our scheduled day to celebrate both Valentine's Day and our 9-year dating anniversary (Feb. 15). That morning we slept in, and then made french toast and scrambled eggs with fresh fruit and mimosas for breakfast. Lounged a while, and then went for a bike ride and washed our cars - it was so pretty out!

By the time we got cleaned up it was time to start on dinner! We made blue-cheese-crusted steaks with a red wine sauce, roasted new potatoes with a spring herb pesto, grilled asparagus and honey wheat bread. And of course we set the table with our china and crystal and my pretty bouquet of white roses that Richie brought me on Friday night.

It all turned out yummy! We were so proud of ourselves. Lounged around some more and made chocolate-covered strawberries and bananas for dessert. Yum! Too bad we weren't at all hungry by that time! LOL. Anyway, we had so much fun just hanging out!

Happy Thursday! Only one and a half more days to the weekend... can you tell this week's been dragging? Maybe it's the cold and all the rain....

But anyway, before we get to next weekend, I guess I ought to tell you about last weekend!

Friday night, Richie and I grabbed some dinner at Chili's, checked out the clearance racks at Old Navy, and the went to see Big Fish at the Alamo Drafthouse. It was really good - go see it if you haven't!

Saturday morning, Richie was up early to play in an indoor volleyball tournament here in town. I slept in, did some things around the house, and went for a nice long walk to enjoy the beautiful day (good thing I did since it's been icky outside ever since!!). After lunch I met up with Richie to watch the rest of the tournament - his team emerged victorious!

We were in a rush to get home and changed and get dowtown for an engagement party for some friends of ours. But the Del Sol wasn't cooperating! Two of its coolant hoses burst, causing the engine to overheat, and we had to abandon it in a Walmart parking lot for the night. :( But we still managed to get to the party at a decent time, and really enjoyed socializing with people we don't get to see that often.

Sunday, we had to rent a U-Haul tow dolly to tow my car to our mechanic. (Luckily, they got her fixed up quickly and without too much $$$!) We ran some errands, and then met Brad and Amanda at our house for dinner and hot tub time.

That's about all the news from here, I think. We'd like to wish you all a very Happy Valentine's Day!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend spent with your loved ones!

Happy Hump Day! Hope everyone's staying dry today - we're getting poured on here!

Last weekend was a lot of fun... we met up with Brad and Amanda for Tex-Mex Friday night and then got ready for our camping trip this weekend.

We were up early Saturday morning to drive to Enchanted Rock to do some top-rope climbing. We climbed on three different routes, then left late afternoon to head to Pace Bend to camp for the night. We got there in time to enjoy a beautiful sunset, build an awesome fire, and cook some yummy fajitas and s'mores. Check out the pictures on our pictures page.

Sunday morning, we packed up and headed back to Austin. Natalie met up with a girlfriend for lunch, then Richie and Natalie stopped by two Superbowl parties. Nice that it was a good game this year!

Not a whole lot going on this week besides the usual - trying to catch up on chores and sleep!

Have a great Wednesday!
